Nowadays, the computer plays an important role in society. The current generation spends a great amount of time on the internet and in virtual worlds. A part of this is a growing niche, called ‘serious games’. These computergames add – besides the inherently attractive merits of gaming – a serious message within a complex simulation. In an active way, the players experience a problematic case, and they look for a solution in the relative context. The ultimate goal for players is gaining insight in the perceptions and understandig of the interests of all actors involved.

Tygron Serious Gaming BV specializes in bringing real-life complex management challenges, which have multiple actors with unique tasks and different interests, into a ‘multiplayer serious game’, making use of modern game technology. To realize this, we have a team of enthousiastic game developers, and we cooperate with experienced partners with specialized knowledge.
The power of Tygron is to make a good translation of the processes in reality to a game. Serious games are not 100% exact design tools, but they will model the strategies (short-term and long-term), mechanisms, merits, problematic cases and actors and show how they relate to reality.

History

Tygron was founded in 2005. Creating and deploying a new generation of serious games for companies and the higher (management-) education market. Partnerships with, among others, the Delft University of Technology have enabled the company to do much research and development. Notable games Tygron has participated in are SimPort, Ventum Online and Construct.it. Since 2008 we focus our efforts mainly on the Watergame and SimPort.

Team

To create succesful serious games you need a mix of learning, content-experts and ICT. The Tygron team is diverse but we also like to cooperate with other parties.

Tygron has gained a lot of experience in developing serious games, resulting in a Serious Game Engine. Making use of this engine reduces the development time of new games significantly. In coorporation with the Delft University of Technology we are always extending it.
